The official season opener of the men's and women's handball leagues will have a new name from 2026: Rexel Super Cup. This was agreed by Handball-Bundesliga GmbH (HBL) and Rexel Germany.
The naming rights, awarded through the mediation of sports rights marketer SPORTFIVE, also include the season opener of the Alsco Handball Bundesliga Women (HBF). The venue is the SAP Garden in Munich. The fan- and family-friendly Saturday event premiered in August 2025 at the sold-out SAP Garden in Munich. In two consecutive matches, the women's and men's champions and cup winners will face each other, similar to the Super Cup format. The matches will also be broadcast live in 2026 by HBL media partner Dyn.
Frank Bohmann, HBL Managing Director: “With Rexel, we are gaining a partner that is economically strong in Germany and at the same time has high relevance both nationally and internationally. The Super Cup has quickly become a real highlight of the season – together with Rexel, we will continue to expand this format, reach new target groups, and offer fans in Munich and in front of their screens a special experience.”
Dr. Oliver Vogler, Managing Director of Purchasing and Marketing at Rexel Germany: "Handball stands for speed, team spirit, and genuine closeness to the fans—values that also characterize our cooperation with customers. As the naming rights partner of the Rexel Super Cup, we are creating an attention-grabbing platform to increase our brand awareness, strengthen our brand image, deepen our exchange with trade and industry, and, in particular, to win more new customers."
Christoph Wendt, Managing Director of the HBF: “The joint season opener for women and men is a strong signal for handball in Germany. The fact that we have gained a committed naming partner in Rexel underlines the growing importance of the event. For fans, this means two top games in one day – a format that combines sport and experience in a special way.”
Comprehensive activation package covering the arena, broadcast, and digital channels. With the naming rights to the Rexel Super Cup, Rexel has acquired a comprehensive package of rights and activations. These include, in particular, title, logo, and usage rights, as well as TV visibility through branding in the immediate vicinity of the game and in central areas of the arena. This is complemented by a wide range of communication measures and activations on site at SAP Garden and via the wide-reaching digital channels of HBL and HBF, including fan and youth activities as part of the event day.

The match day is complemented by a fan-friendly supporting program at the SAP Garden in Munich.
