Since its foundation in 1966, over 3,700 players have made it onto the list of top scorers in the 1st Handball Bundesliga. The ranking of the 1,000 most successful goal scorers is currently led by Hans Lindberg (3,115 goals). In second place is Kyung-Shin Yoon, who scored 2,905 goals during his time with VfL Gummersbach (1996–2006) and HSV Hamburg (2006–2008).

Goals scored during the regular season are counted. Promotion and relegation rounds as well as other playoff games are not counted.
